Lockdown 2 Electric Avenue Part 2

Part 2. Things to make and do in Lockdown : Learn about SoundBeaming.

Continuing our electric audio lockdown theme, it's time you rethought how to experience sound with Noveto's groundbreaking SoundBeaming technology. According to Noveto, sound is beamed directly outside the ears in ultrasonic waves that create private audio bubbles for a more natural and immersive experience, without the need for headphones.

Don't be surprised if Apple adopts this technology in the near future.

Top 10 Werewolf Movies Of All Time

Zombies are overrated. Let's be honest, a werewolf could defeat a slow moving zombie any night of the living dead. Provided there was a full moon.

Ive always loved werewolf movies so I thought this neglected genre was long overdue an appraisal. So sit back and bark at the moon with the top 10 hair raising werewolf movies of all time. Watch these 10 trailers then have a virtual movie marathon of your own, and remember: Stay On The Path, Beware Of The Moon.

In descending order of greatness:

10. Wolfcop (2004)

A fun little cult B-movie werewolf comedy that never takes itself too seriously. Like a violent version of Teen Wolf. Sort of.

9. Dog Soldiers (2002)

A fantastic low budget British production with an original story and special effects to rival Hollywood.

8. Silver Bullet (1985)

Probably Stephen King's finest and only werewolf adaptation, which isnt that bad once you look past the child protagonist. (Stephen King's protagonists are always either authors or children). Enjoy its gloriously over the top eighties charm.

7. Werewolf Of London (1935)

The original black and White classic which kickstarted the movie genre.

6. The Wolfman (1941)

Lon Chaney Junior is the archetypal everyman Jekyll / Hyde in this classic Universal Studios black and white movie that improved on the original Werewolf Of London. One of the best werewolf movies ever made and a milestone in the genre's cinematic evolution.

5. The Curse Of The Werewolf (1961)

Oliver Reed tears up the screen as he wrestles his inner beast on heat in this lusty Hammer classic.

4. Wolfen (1981)

A dark and gritty eighties new york werewolf cult classic that somehow never received the respect it deserved.

3. The Howling (1985)

This stylish entry was directed by Joe Dante of Gremlins fame with a slow burning storyline and great acting from Dee Wallace. Its also well worth checking out the campy B movie sequel, if you dare, with Sybil Danning as the werewolf leader.

2. The Beast Must Die (1974)

A classic Amicus curio that blends blaxspoitation and Agatha Christie murder mystery drama with its famous Werewolf Break novelty guessing game. "One of these eight people will turn into a werewolf." Can you guess which one?

1. An American Werewolf In London (1981)

This cold stone horror classic claws its way to the number one spot with its black ghoulish humour, great storyline, and countless iconic and gorey moments. I've watched this John Landis movie a ridiculous amount of times, and never tire of it. Even now the dream sequence of Nazi Werewolves with machine guns makes me shiver with fear and excitement. Not to mention the Picadilly Square set piece ending, which is unequaled.

At the time, Rick Baker's werewolf transformation special effects won an Oscar, and rightly so. A werewolf movie set in England with pitch perfect humour and gore that has never been surpassed in the genre, which somehow leads us back to the cinematic roots of Werewolf Of London.

Remember: Stay On The Path, Beware Of The moon.

George A. Romero's Lost Debut Film - The Amusement Park

George Romero's The Amusement Park

Considered lost for over 40 years, George A. Romero's debut film, The Amusement Park, has been rediscovered and restored.

According to Bloody Disgusting website, The Amusement Park was originally commissioned by the Lutheran Society to highlight elder abuse, but was later considered so shocking it was never released. The premise is described as : 'The Amusement Park stars Lincoln Maazel as an elderly man who finds himself disoriented and increasingly isolated as the pains, tragedies, and humiliations of aging in America are manifested through roller coasters and chaotic crowds.'

The 4K print has reportedly been purchased by Yellow Veil Productions and will be released on all platforms later this year.

Consume And Die

Are you bored and quite literally dying to shop again?

The UK Prime Minister, that most trusted of public servants, wants you to shore up the ailing economy by encouraging you to risk your life visiting the high street for cheap paper thin clothes at Primark, that you wouldn't be seen dead wearing in a month. Well, you might be, just give it a few weeks. That new cough is never going away.

They Live - Obey image

The Pandemic is far from over. Don't believe me? Watch this animated graph using the John Hopkins repository from Jan to May 2000. (Thank you Boing Boing):

Global Causes Of Deaths Due To Various Causes And Covid-19 :

The UK already has the highest death rate in Europe with over 40,000 dead and no means of identifying how prevalent Covid-19 infections actually are in our society - without an adequate track and trace system. So when you're next advised to safely reduce your physical distancing to 1 metre, or perhaps even 1.4 metres, against all scientific evidence to the contrary, remember this : A scientific study has already found that reducing physical distance to 1 metre DOUBLES your chances of infection. In other words, for every metre apart, transmission is halved.

Reducing Physical Distancing Doubles Your Chances Of Infection :

Man, this government is killing it. And everyone you know.

Google Is Watching, Google Is Listening

Given Edward Snowden's NSA leaks, most people now expect their internet searches to be unlawfully logged and matched to their IPs, their personal data sold on, and trawled through by unknown agencies. The fact this has become permissable in a democracy is deplorable. However, it will come as a surprise by most to learn that the Google Chrome browser can also listen to their private conversations. Google deny they are eavesdropping but the fact remains that the capability is inherent in their source code and can be triggered by almost anyone.

The Duke Of Burgundy [2015]

British film-making has been undergoing something of a renaissance of late, with UK directors such as Ben Wheatley and Peter Strickland producing darkly ambitious new works such as Sightseers, A Field In England and the Berberian Sound Studio.

The Duke Of Burgundy is Strickland's latest film, a modern day love letter to the 1970s Euro Sleaze classics of director Jesus Franco, Jean Rollins and many others. This beautifully shot film traces the development of a BDSM relationship between two women as they test the limits of their relationship and the sexual undercurrents that control them. Unlike Franco, these themes never graphically descend into soft porn. Instead The Duke Of Burgundy stylishly recaptures 1970s filmmaking with its characters inner lives, film stock, hypnotic imagery, exceptional acting from the mischievously erotic Chiara D'Anna, and a soundtrack by Cats Eyes to die for.

Miss it at your peril. Highly recommended.

'Forget everything you think you know about global warming. The really inconvenient truth is that it’s not about carbon—it’s about capitalism. The convenient truth is that we can seize this existential crisis to transform our failed economic system and build something radically better.'

Not A Christmas Classic - The Ruling Class [1972]

Although not technically a christmas film, The Ruling Class is an utterly insane black comedy, musical, and dark political and religious satire from the 1970s where the main character believes he is Jesus Christ. Produced in an era of A Clockwork Orange and If, this anarchic british film parodies the 1960s and preempts the ruthless 1980s with a hilarious portrayal of the upper classes.

Peter O Toole gives a memserising performance as J.C. as greedy family members plot to steal his estate and drive him further into insanity and back to his conservative roots. Featuring crazy musical numbers and top hatted gorillas, they certainly dont make them like this anymore.

'How do you know you are God?'

George Monbiot - A Toll-Booth Economy

George Monbiot tells it like it is. Essential reading.

'Ours is a toll-booth economy, unchallenged by any major party, in which companies which have captured essential public services – water, energy, trains – charge extraordinary fees we have no choice but to pay(14). If there is a “generational struggle to defend the principles of the free market”, it’s a struggle against the corporations, which have replaced the market with a state-endorsed oligarchy(15).

It’s because of the power of corporations that the minimum wage remains so low, while executives cream off millions. It’s because of this power that most people in poverty are in work(16), and the state must pay billions to supplement their appalling wages. It’s because of this power that, in the midst of a crisis so severe that the world has lost over 50% of its vertebrate wildlife in just 40 years(17), the government is organising a bonfire of environmental protection. It’s because of this power that instead of innovative taxation (such as a financial transactions tax and land value taxation(18)) we have permanent austerity for the poor. It’s because of this power that billions are still pumped into tax havens. It’s because of this power that Britain is becoming a tax haven in its own right(19).

And still they want more. Through a lobbying industry and a political funding system successive governments have failed to reform, corporations select and buy and bully the political class to prevent effective challenge to their hegemony. Any politician brave enough to stand up to them is relentlessly hounded by the corporate media. Corporations are the enemy within.'

Tony Benn RIP

'If one meets a powerful person - Rupert Murdoch, perhaps, or Joe Stalin or Hitler - one can ask five questions: what power do you have; where did you get it; in whose interests do you exercise it; to whom are you accountable; and, how can we get rid of you? Anyone who cannot answer the last of those questions does not live in a democratic system'.

'It's the same each time with progress. First they ignore you, then they say you're mad, then dangerous, then there's a pause and then you can't find anyone who disagrees with you.'

The United Kingdom Of Censorship

Having trouble accessing the internet and thought you were living in the UK? Not China, right? Wrong. Shockingly, under a recent UK high court ruling, ISPs across the UK are now required to censor internet freedoms with the blocking of popular torrent sites. Popular websites such as kickass torrents, isohunt and many others have been barred access from UK visitors under a ruling won by the British Phonographic Industry.

The BPI and other vested interests have taken this approach after their high profile lawsuits against internet users backfired and became a PR disaster when recording artists fans' and unrelated downloaders were wrongly targeted. However, the effectiveness of this ISP blocking measure has already been circumvented by torrent sites simply providing mirror and proxy sites. For instance, the kickass torrent site has simply become

As we can see, the internet is fast to respond whilst the courts are not. This type of censorship will not work but will no doubt damage our freedoms in the future as the UK government seeks to lockdown an internet that is still historically in its infancy. Let us not forget that e-commerce was not made legal until 1991 when the National Science Foundation lifted the band. So, it follows that internet freedoms in place long before ecommerce, should not be put at risk by a digital beast that came later. Complain to your ISP now.

Your Right To Privacy vs The Snoopers Charter

Are you sick of companies like Google and Facebook collecting and selling on your information, your private life, without your consent? Well, you should be. How many times have you innocently used a search engine only find an advert then insidiously targeted at you on the next page selling that same item. The answer, is more and more.

Information has become the 21st centurys new commodity and it is bought and sold every second by large corporations who want to build a profile on you for their marketing and other invasive campaigns. But, it doesnt stop there. Big Brother is about to get even bigger as we sleepwalk into what amounts to an invasion of privacy with the Draft Communications Data Bill. What Liberty have dubbed 'The Snoopers Charter'.

Under this act, your ISP will be required to collect and store your personal data for future governmental bodies to use - possibly against your interests and without your knowledge. So, to put it plainly, any email, text, skype, online activity or even phone use will be stored and read by strangers and possibly even sold on to private firms.

Your private life is about to become very public unless you help stop the Snoopers Charter.

Olympic Lockdown 2012

'In addition to the concentration of sporting talent and global media, the London Olympics will host the biggest mobilisation of military and security forces seen in the UK since the second world war. More troops – around 13,500 – will be deployed than are currently at war in Afghanistan. The growing security force is being estimated at anything between 24,000 and 49,000 in total. Such is the secrecy that no one seems to know for sure.

During the Games an aircraft carrier will dock on the Thames. Surface-to-air missile systems will scan the skies. Unmanned drones, thankfully without lethal missiles, will loiter above the gleaming stadiums and opening and closing ceremonies. RAF Typhoon Eurofighters will fly from RAF Northolt. A thousand armed US diplomatic and FBI agents and 55 dog teams will patrol an Olympic zone partitioned off from the wider city by an 11-mile, £80m, 5,000-volt electric fence.

Beyond these security spectaculars, more stealthy changes are underway. New, punitive and potentially invasive laws such as the London Olympic Games Act 2006 are in force. These legitimise the use of force, potentially by private security companies, to proscribe Occupy-style protests. They also allow Olympic security personnel to deal forcibly with the display of any commercial material that is deemed to challenge the complete management of London as a "clean city" to be branded for the global TV audience wholly by prime corporate sponsors (including McDonald's, Visa and Dow Chemical).

London is also being wired up with a new range of scanners, biometric ID cards, number-plate and facial-recognition CCTV systems, disease tracking systems, new police control centres and checkpoints. These will intensify the sense of lockdown in a city which is already a byword across the world for remarkably intensive surveillance.

Many such systems, deliberately installed to exploit unparalleled security budgets and relatively little scrutiny or protest, have been designed to linger long after the athletes and VIPs have left. Already, the Dorset police are proudly boasting that their new number-plate recognition cameras, built for sailing events, are allowing them to catch criminals more effectively.'

Back To The Goblin

Monday 27th July 2009
Supersonic Festival Presents GOBLIN

The rumours are true. Italian legends Goblin are to play their first UK shows in over 20 years!

A lot of bands have been name-checking them recently, but Freudstein have always been huge fans, and have drawn inspiration from them over the years. In fact, we probably wouldnt exist without them.

Goblin are responsible for creating some of the most terrifying and beautiful horror film soundtracks to some of the best horror films ever made. Their collaborations with film director Dario Argento spawned classic scores for 'Profondo Rosso', 'Suspiria', 'Tenebre' and many, many others.

Not to be missed.

Packed with discographical information, web addresses line-ups and often contributions from the bands themselves.'

New Dissected and Resurrected LP review :

Dissected and ResurrectedA new review of Freudstein’s ’Dissected & Resurrected’ remix LP has just surfaced online at, a site dedicated to electronic, industrial and alternative music. This is what they had to say:

‘Freudstein’s remixes feel shiny and new while holding on to the darkness within...What’s truly appealing though, is the variety of sound. The first song, "Misadventure" plays like a VNV Nation remix of Depeche Mode, while the second, "Shadows" is a seductive down-tempo piece that will stay in your ears for a long while after the last note has faded. "Return to the Old Forest" attacks with a heavy bass drumbeat that skips from ear to ear, while beneath it plays a terror fantasy tune that captures the innocence and fear found in the most haunting horror films...’

Freudstein join the music industry debate in Indymedia article : 'From customer to pirate. How the recording industry is turning its customers and artists into pirates.'

Home Taping Is Killing No-one

Freudstein are interviewed in a powerful Indymedia article about the future of the music industry. The article 'From customer to pirate. How the recording industry is turning its customers and artists into pirates' interviews Freudstein, among others, about their views and experiences of current digital developments. The author, Linden Farrer, discusses the death of the CD, the rise of the Mp3, bit-torrent and the internet as powerful tools for bands to reject traditional music industry models, including i-tunes.

This debate was recently reingnited by Radiohead's recent digital self-release of their new album, In Rainbows. Leading one record industry insider to comment 'If the best band in the world doesn't want a part of us, I'm not sure what's left for this business.'

NEW 'Dissected & Resurrected' remix LP released :

'Tracks from last year's 'Mass Market Misery' album are remixed for dark and dirty dancefloors, combined here with some of Freudstein's own mixes of songs by kindred spirits Arkham Asylum, Chaos Engine and Swarf. The originals are stretched and broken on the rave rack, twisted in the industrial thumbscrews and fiendishly experimented upon until, against all odds, the resulting hybrid homunculus takes on a hideous life of its own. Live review in Arnhem, Holland :

'The mood is good, both the band and the audience are having a good time and that makes a good preparation for the gig. The music - indeed a weird mixture of styles - is interesting from the first to the last minute, making it an hour that passes away rapidly. Imagine Wolfsheim on crack, using breakcore beats, poured in some horror/punk-jacket and you kind of get the idea for tonight.

Normally, the performers are supported by a live bass-player (and I read dancers?, on the website) but it's only David and Andrew here tonight. The duo combine singing and playing, and by jumping on and off the stage, into the 'crowd' it makes a good presentation. I have nothing to add than mentioning this was a welcome performance, with outstanding variations in music & performance, and overall an easy-to-digest party-band. Digesting the beer was unfortunately more difficult.'

Shortly after awarding Freudstein's new album 5/5, Chain DLK, one of the net's foremost electronic/industrial websites have interviewed the band about their music and lifelong obsessions. In the interview, one bandmember says ‘Horror films have influenced everything in my life, especially music. I strive to honour the atmospheres created in the films I love so much, and take them in the context of today. The world is more horrific than ever and I want to rub peoples faces in that fact using music.’

According to the less than accurate online translator that is Babelfish, Sonic Seducer has this to say about the band :

‘The duo out of Brighton manufactured on its current album "Mass Market Misery" of very tuneful and imaginative, chiefly Electronic Wave, that certainly also in this country its friends be found becomes. With "Sister Sleaze" there is slightly glam like rock inclined something which already gives a fine foretaste on the complete album.’

Bizarre Magazine Online Review :

Bizarre Magazine

Freudstein have recently been reviewed in their favourite hallowed real-life horror institution that is Bizarre Magazine.

The magazine reviewed their latest album, Mass Market Misery, stating ‘The overall mood is enjoyably haunting; when they get it right, it's bang on the witch's nail. Instrumentals 'Return To The Old Forest' and 'Laura', especially, could effectively score the lead into any barbed-axe-in-the-eye Argento moment...Still, this remains a compelling little slab of theatrical misery. Rather like a low-budgeted Hammer gem on record.’ It's official, Freudstein are media whores, and just cant help themselves.
